RE: TOWER HOBBIES SUCKS
I also quit tower, I ordered a pt-17 stearman it was damaged new in box, I had to pay for shipping back to tower, and they never did offer to pay for it. I have been ordering for years and spent a lot of money with them, now I just shop here on rcu or swap meets.

RE: GP PT-17 Stearman Ideas or Thoughts ?
I went with large air fill tires with no air to limit bounce on take off the quicker the tail is up the better hit handles, once in the air they fly nice and make 3 point landings

RE: chipmuck
I owned one of these for years and yes I had to apply right rudder, also throttle it up slow till the tail is up then a nice long run before lifting it off, this plane always made the best 3 point landing, your plane looks nice good job.........

RE: Aileron Problem Help!
I had this same type of problem show up several years ago, turned out I replaced the actual servos and it fixed the problem, it was not electrical but due to vibration, servos were 3 years old before it started acting up. I tried ferrite coils and moving leads even changed connectors. finally changed to servos and problem went away, and so did the servos, not worth taking a chance, did offer them to a club member free......[:D][:D]

RE: How many here fly full-scale?
I made a post earlier about dad getting me into flying, he is now 85 his health is really failing fast , he recently showed me some pictures from wwII shows a fire fight on some island, the island was being attacked by ship and dive bombers at night all you could see was streaks of light going from the ships and explosions on the island, Dad was on a destroyer then, I remember him saying without seeing this picture how could anyone explain what they were going thru. He was proud of the navy and how even though they were all scared kids they knew they had to do it. He talked about there not being time to be scared, but thats why they all drank and smoked for relief from the action. He laughs at some shows because there werent any girls on the islands, like baba black sheep..........some say that was the best generation and I agree

Great news about solo congratulations, a little advice , do not fly alone, if not another pilot take friend just in case something goes wrong, I have seen to many accidents happen even to the most experienced pilots, good luck

RE: Evolution gas engines and horizon I'm pissed!
This does not excuse the bad attitude by in industry everytime someone retires or dies they are not replaced and the work load increase's then cuts in pay and benefits make for unhappy staff, its the trend in this economy do more with less is all we hear. been in the service industry for 36 years never thought it could get this bad [:-]

RE: bad gas
Several years ago I lost a diesel engine to bad fuel, called the supplier ( we buy bulk 1500 gallons at a time) they told me there was no way there was water in the diesel after checking, the guy wasnt sure what it was, it turned the putty red but he thoght it was alcohol anyway pumped it out and took it another customer with bigger tanks and said he would add it to their tanks and they would never know the difference. Yes we changed companies, we also installed water filters on the gas equipment and you wont believe the amount of water that comes out of the pumps

RE: OS Max FXi .46
I have to agree with bax on this one, I had a nexstar years ago with the 46 fxi and a 11x5 prop flew it for years and sold it, last time I saw it was still flying strong. I have 46fx and 46 ax and never saw any difference in rpm or power from the 46fxi and it does come extremely rich. also remember adding a little left thrust to engine because it had to much right thrust other than that it flew great. just my 2 cents worth

RE: Getting started, on a budget, with a size limit
I agree in joining a club, in our club you will fly on club trainer for a while and then there will be guys who can fix you up with equipment so much cheaper than you can buy new, I sold a new guy a trainer rtf with xmitter for 100 bucks it was a eagle II he flew the covering off, I enjoyed seeing the plane being used, I had one trainer that went thru 4 people before it was retired, its called promoting the hobby.........

RE: Great Planes RV-4 .60
On mine I came forward a inch from the pointed end of the cowl and drilled it out and put a plastic 1/8 bolt and nut on inside to keep vibration down, didnt want it to move and scar the monokote works good and you cant see it unless you are looking for it.

RE: Saito 56 or 62
I had a kadet with a 46 fx 2 stroke flew great but always would have like to have a little more power , we had a club trainer with a 56 and they moved it up to a 70 four stroke, definate improvement, remember you can always pull back on throttle, and sometimes more power comes in handy for some situations my 2 cents worth go bigger if you can......

RE: Great Planes RV-4 .60
I have been flying mine for 3 years and have no issue's except a bad spinner ( out of balance) still using the same fuel tank although I never use stock stopper I always use sullivan, and no problems with wing dowel, wonder if they have changed manufacture or cut some corners somewhere. I remember the only problem with the build was the horz. stab was off and had to sand the fuse to get the stab paraell with the wing, a sweet flying plane also love the flaps it really slows it down for landings.......dan
