RE: UK build skunkworks nitro cat.
Epoxied in the transom support yesterday, first time using epoxy went went pretty well, drilled and installed hardware this morning! Tuned pipe comes right over the rudder support so should be easy making a bracket to hold the pipe up :D

RE: UK build skunkworks nitro cat.
Alright little update :D Support made for transom out of 1/8 marine ply (wow this stuff is strong) got the prop and coupler on order, just need another servo as one died along with the aquajet! and the 15 minute epoxy syringe should be arriving very soon! only thing left to buy is some fuel hose, starter &belt and some sort of L bracket to hold the radio box in although i may make that from ali.

RE: UK build skunkworks nitro cat.
Good old maplins eh :D always come up trumps! Very nice looking hull you have and so similar to mine. That Radio box is from the Aquacraft Nitrohammer, took me a while to find the right one, and looking at it agin this morning I think i will be able to use the tray insert to my advantage just means I'll have to have the rudder on the left, im not racing this boat so should be fine?! I know one day I'll be wanting a Gasser[:@]

RE: UK build skunkworks nitro cat.
Hi Brod, yeah I have too many hobbies, lol so they seem to go in rotation! Funnily enough just having a look at radio box config. does seem tight but should prove ok I think. Is your build finished, or any links or pics to it. Cheers Sam.

Bit more fettling today with the mount, just needs 'finishing' and maybe painting or clear lacquering?

RE: UK build skunkworks nitro cat.
Hi all , almost a year since I last posted on this thread!! well after the death of my AJ hull and the fact the electrics kept getting wet as per no radio box I decided to plough some cash into this project :D and hopefully get it running by the beginning of August so I can take it down the beach on my 2 week break :D Got some ply on order for the transom support and will order the prop and flexhex next week. had a little chop about with the engine mount today, may even go to the trouble of drilling through the bolts to make them super light weight!lol more updates soon.

Thanks for all the replies people, although I made the decision now to sell the engine and bits of the AJ so i can continue and fund on with the skunkworks cat build, shame i had to sell but needs must if I want the cat built by the next holiday (5 weeks!!!) http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6665410/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm Apreciate your input though, thanks Sam.

melted my AJ hull> what good hull to get next and use it's engine in?
Alright guys, not posted in ages, but have been out on the water for the last few weeks enjoying the aqua jet in the sea, but had a bad nitro leak and the hull melted right by the engine mounts too :( I could fix it maybe, but I dont like the non resistant hull plus not having a decent waterproof radio box is a bummer> so is there a nice cheap(ish) hull I could buy and use my .16 engine and prop plus radio gear in . wouldnt mind a deep vee or cat or even a hydro, any suggestions apreciated. I still have the red cat project on the go, but really want something to run soon as poss, as i was having so much fun.... Thanks for any suggestions Sam.

RE: Show Off Your Ride!!!
This is my 1990 Peugeot 205GTI , originaly a 1.6i, but that was a bit slow for me (still an amazing handlling FWD car though!) so I added a 2.0L 8v Turbo engine to it, engine came from a peugeot 406! Currently ECU chipped to just under 200bhp and 220lb/ft of torque running 1bar of boost, as you can imagine it's rather rapid only weighing 900kg, and goes round corners like its on rails. It is my daily driver & summer sports car rolled into one :D

RE: Transom support.
Thanks for the help :-D So do I clamp and epoxy it in place first, then drill the holes through the back of the transom for the rudder/strut into the support? I *think* Im going to use blind nuts, as once the radio box is in place I wont be able to get to the nuts, unless I make the radio box removable?! But then how would I do that? Cheers again;)

Transom support.
Me again! :D I have made a cardboard mock-up of my transom support that I need to make, following the outlines of the inside edge. Couple of questions: Does it need to be this shape or can it be alot smaller, ie just supporting the strut and rudder in a strip? Also, I figure from the search I need to make this from good quality birch ply?, but what thickness of material and do I then once made /drilled , cover the support in Fibreglass resin? Cheers in advance, Sam.
