RE: Getting back in to flying!!
ORIGINAL: JRgraham Hey Zach, why not post your insults to me here, rather than in a PM. My opinion on the 8FG is mine, and mine alone. It is not bias. And I stand by it. The 8FG has outstanding programming, is 14 channels, and very affordable for what it offers. Super easy to setup and program. Not real sure why you took such offence to my opinion here, But it shows your personallity, kid. Good luck with your cheap HK crap. <img src=''http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/thumbs_down.gif'' alt='''' />
Oh I have no problem doing so !!! so did you read what he said ????or are you just so thick headed that to you don't understand that a 450 doller radio is NOT budget minded entry level radio .! FACTUAL not a matter of openion ..! I.E this is where your in the wrong... hey like I siad most of the new'er guys that I personaly see show up to the flying field ,come with DX6I's ,I dont know why but that just what i see .. I agree ithat the DX6I is a easy to use good engry level radio that's not going to devstate your wallet ...... hell if your biased futaba couldn't you of at least said a 7 cap ? DX6 is what 139 ? and your telling this guy to buy a 450 DOLLER RADIO .. come on man Really ???? YOU ARE BIASED and here is why I'll explain this is what OP said “I am trying to keep the cost down, hence the cheaper radio. I was also looking at the UCanDo 90, but think this is a very ugly plane! Can someone please offer me some advice on what I have chosen to buy? Keep in mind I am trying to get back in to the hobby as cheap as possible so my wife won't leave me!! The only thing that I am really worried about is the radio. " In my personal openion you are , just like a horriable car salesman trying to push somthing that you think is cool but this dude doesn't even need or isn't going to use to his fullist .. a good salesman should try to get him into something that matches his needs.. that he clearly stated but you inroged... I.E hey i am a colleage stundent i need a good car thats budget minded ... and your showing this guy a vett when he should be buying a v6 commaro AT THE MOST !!! yep your that guy... !! read what the guy said and try to help him out realalstickly you might think that the 8FG SUPER IS a good vavule, that might be so,,, .. but that's vaule in the context of its scale that radio is a higher END radio .. he doesnt need sero match s bus and 14 channals to fly a futana .. maybe one day he will have a 50 cc... hell i still see 50cc guys fly with DX7 and dx6i ..just saying .. but if he was at that point hten a 8FG would be more realistic .... .. but it's out of context of what the guy is asking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and when you use LOGIC the only reason i can think of you would reply with such bull crap is that your Biased .. and so be it [8|] WAY.. oh and if you worked a hobby shop and you told this guy what your saying here .. do you think later on when he figers things out that he would feel your just trying to sell him top doller and not even lissting to him or do you think he would think you had his best intrest in mind .. ? to me its black and white .. not a matter of openion .... to you its a openion thing .. like you Honslty think 8FGSUPER is a budgget radio and you'lll argue that up and down ... and thats what i just don't understand either your biased or your really well off in money and 450 dollers seems like something on the lower side of radios should cost .. and dude i didnt tell this guy to use Hobby king i just said that hte Orang RX's are cheap and they work thats all i said dude.. Dont get it twisted

RE: Getting back in to flying!!
off topic of hte radio .. thats almost a question you cant ask here becouse so many pepol are heavy biased like this guy talking abouta 8FG SUPER .. and you wanted a low end cheaper radio clearly hes is correct ..[:-].whatever raido your comfrable with and fits your Budget useage .. try to get something you wont upgrade RIGHT AWAY.. thats IMO ... but i'd chose DLE 20 over satio 125 if that funtana is big enough .. or vally view RC offers a DLE clone 20cc for 199 i'd rock those motors over that satio if i could Rember useing a IEBC to save weight ... and you'll only need a 8 ounc tank .. save some weight there ... Keep her light man !! DX6I seems to be a vary popular entry level computer radio .. and the nock off Orang RX's are rather Cheap ... but reallly your going to have to research on your own the bias is TOO heavy to ask the question to fellow internet gowers

lets clear something up the statement of false hoood was " easy to hover knife edges like a champ" "like a champ"... now i consider this to mean on par with the best flying stuff out there . or really close to the top of knife edge perofrmance that you can buy today . if i am going to use " like a champ " i wouldn't use it on something that is medicore .. so for example i wouldnt say my hobbico trainer knife edges like a champ ... or my piper cub knife edges like a champ .. now ... that being side i can personly easly fly a knife edge with a trainer ... or a piper cub even .. will i be able to fly prolonged figer 8 ? or KE fade's ? or death slides ? NOOO .. thats my point the U can do doesn't KE well .. it does it medicore .. just like evey thing eles the airplane does Medicore .... but yes you can fly a you can in KE easly .. that was not the argurment.. and how can you love a 3D airplane that can't even do a Blender ? or a pop top ? thats what gets to me ...there is just better airframes , that is a known .. you can presonly love it for whatever reason .. but on the scale of current airframes ..its medicore ... yes it does its fale to clame the plane kinfe edges well WHEN IT HAS BAD COUPLING issues this is false dont care what pilot you are .. if you joe smith the damn plane still doesn't knife edge well and it would be false to clame that it does .. THATs MY POINT U CAN DO fans seem to not know a good plane to save their lives and dirves me freaking nuts look up at the post other pepole arnt claming its a good airplane for a reason its not a matter of my opnion its a matter of fact [:@] hey the plane is what it is .. its kinda a oldie start 3D plane thats a hybrid profile / fuse plane and flys okay .. thats IT .. there are better profiles now and way better full fused planes that don't share the coupling the funking flying quarks

see this is the type of guy i don't like [:@] becouse hes giveing false infomatin I HAVE NEVER SEEN A U CAN DO "KNIFE EDGE LIKE A CAMP" the ones i've had and flown all had coupling issues .. all the issues mulit demional so it would require ailerion and elvator mix to fly a hands off knife edge and even then wouldn't really do it .. and it whould change its habbets going from flat out knife edge to alpha knife edge fade ... also the plane didn't want to lay flat in a bender the plane's hor stab was weak as heck i blew if off with flutter a few times the stock control horns suck ass if you fly decent .. you'll bend them the plane doesn't snap well the plane doesnt carrie speed for pop tops .. yes hte plane can hover and it's easy to hover and yes it does fly slow but come on man don't say stuff just isnt true .... the plane DOES NOT KNIFE EDGE well and hell i didn thave problem with land gear becouse i never daired to harrier land it or slam it down hard ...... i knew it wouldnt hold out also the plane was funky going into a KE spin ..

I think the product would speak more then the name for example it would just really matter the plane and the products your puting out ... if you put out a good airframe at a good price with good support you'll win .. hard to say ill buy x plane just for the name ... I would really have to know its strong and flys great ....

can't speak for Dave but i would chose EPP foam if i had a choice ... personally I have the twisted hobby's slick with there LED kit and it works great it's two Leds on the SFG's one blue one white EPP foam is a lot more forgiving I would say 48" EPP extra with Aura light kit for outdoor night flying.

just going to say from my personal experience the ball link offer less slob and vibration doesn't Waller out the whole's like it will do to a clevis style linkage i had a metal clevis linkage waller down to nothing the ball linkage doesn't give any room for walllering

RE: Hanging Around
after learning how to do it ......come back and read some post ... it's a vary wide range of " the right way " to do things but often a lot of them don't hold any weight what i think your referring to is the toque affect two factor's take into account wing span and prop diameter larger props with less pitch tend to have greater toque affect IE you'll have to hold more right aileron a perfect hover to keep the airplane from toque rolling .. so those people that don't hold much aileron might have lighter planes with less prop diorama and more prop pitch also a common practice to counter toque affect is simple to dip the nose of the plane slightly in the direction of the wind if you ever so slightly point the nose it will cancel out a lot of the toque affect ... the toqure really comes into account only when you see o the aircraft thrust line in perfect aliment with the vertical axes thats my 2 cents [:@]

RE: Getting kinda bored...
ORIGINAL: SyCo_VeNoM
ORIGINAL: littlera My observations of R/C cars (both online and at the LHS) is that most enthusiasts are young - certanily most are under 16. This is a time of growth and change for young guys, and as they age they mature, they find new interests and discover new things. What was new for them is now old, and what is new is exciting. It is not surprising that most get bored. While R/C cars can certainly be fun, it is basically a two dimensional endeavor. Steer right or left. Yes, there are many nuances and technical challenges, but it is still at the end of the day steer right or left. R/C flying more often becomes a lifetime hobby. The three dimensional aspect of the sport I think tends to hold one's interest and imagination for a long, long, time. I have been doing it over 40 years. Having said that, some still get bored with it and leave the hobby. I did a little test and pulled up a few random R/C car discussion threads on RCU from 2004 - 2005. I found that about 90% of the posters have not posted in the last three years. On one thread, I had to get to page 3 before I found a single poster that had logged in during the last 6 months. I assume most of this 90% are no longer running cars. Some may still be involved, and just got bored with RCU, but I think you get the idea.
I saw the exact opposite. at my LHS I've only seen 1-2 people under 20 and they were 10-14yo's with their parents even here I don't think many are under 20 majority I'd say are 25+ As for the RCU test I know a fair amount are still in the hobby, and active on other sites. They just quit this site for various reasons so saying they are out of the hobby is not really valid. I'm sure if we go into the airplane forum we can find similar trend just like every other form of RC's. sheesh you air guys are freaks looked into the forums from what I see its like 60% still are active. But I guess thats cause being a flyboy is more of a lifestyle than a hobby seeing how much room you have to dedicate for planes. boat section I found 1 guy that still posts I recognize his name. He came to the ground based side think he does crawlers now. Heli's also seem to go the way the on-roads do, just like water craft. Its you airplane guys that are the exception lol
would just like to debunk mr vemon .. your borderline trollish ... when i was a kid i had cars i went to radio shack toy's r us they had cars ... my friends had cars NONE of them could build or even fly an airplane .. yes now you can buy some foam toy and fly it ... but the majority of cars are geared for young people .. with bling bling and vedio game style taste ... if you have adult friends and they come in your house and see you with your RC cars.. they are going to roll their eyes at you... now if you have legit RC airplanes ... they would be little less likely to roll their eyes ... at you because as a society the standard accepts that RC cars are more of a kids toys... even if you had legit ( big money ) RC car's they wouldn't know ... but if someone sees a comp arf in your room I'm pretty sure he/she know's your not hanging out with teenagers on the weekend .. and that it's more a hobby .. then it's kids toys... and I'm pretty sure they know you dont shop at toy's R us ..... but with your RC car they see that car at toys R us and they see your car its in the same boat...
