RE: 12X Alarm Volume
Thx!! I can't wait to get back home to check..... I can't believe I missed that..

12X Alarm Volume
Maybe it is obvious to others but it is severely challenging me.... For some reason I am not getting an audible alarm on my 12X when I set up a timer..... It doesnt matter what interval I set or if its one time etc, just no volume. The standard JR alarms work such as throttle hold or flight mode not in proper position on transmitter start up... Anybody steer me in the right direction... Thx

RE: Shulman Turbinator
I just received mine late last week, hope to start the assembly next week when I'm back home. Overall the quality looks great, this will be my first jet build but from all the other ARF's I've seen this is as good or better. I'm planning to install my P-80SE, and Hitec 7955's.

RE: JR 12X battery
I gave up on the NimH battery and installed a Hyperion LiFe 2300mah, works great. I was able to use the NiMh mount and charge through the charge jack. Enough capacity for the weekend and I can charge it and a month later its still fully charged.

I'm planning to install a DLE-111 in mine, for the fellows with the 100cc engines what prop are you using? I have a 27x10 but the ground clearance is pretty close so I'm thinking about using a 24x12 3 blade... Or is there sufficient clearance with a 27x10.. Thx

I just picked up my Pawnee yesterday, I have a DA-100 planned for her. Would like to get some smoke off the wings to simulate dusting.... I've read some have had success with baby powder and air, just wondering what others have tried.
ORIGINAL: kochj whats up... I am thinking about converting my Gemini to gas...(already has the ignition) Tired of the mess, constant adjusting, and siphoning..
I just ordered a couple rcxel ignitions for my Saito's (FA-300T / FA-220). I'm still planning to run 5% nitro though, apparently the fuel efficiency is increased which results in alot less mess.... I've talked to a couple people who have completed similar conversions and they swear by it, less mess, easy starting, and better power. I guess I'll see....

RE: Aero Works P-51?
I was looking at my retracts and too me there looks to be alot of slop... the gear lock ok but with the added slop translates into an increase in potential side force if you don't keep the plane straight down the runway on landings.... Is everyones gear solid or loose like mine?? I just wonder if my plastic locks are worn??

RE: Aero Works P-51?
ORIGINAL: n8622t Hey super8, this is the Jtec muffler made specifically for the P-51, yes there other mufflers have the spacers but this one does not...go figure! I will try the muffler without the gasket, thanks for that info and I always use red silicone on my gaskets, but a mechanic told me to use permatex Grey gasket maker. He told me it was better for high vibration areas and that the stuff would create a bond between the muffler and exhaust port. He also told me to use the gasket when I use this stuff so I may go that route first since I have never tried it. Jimmy
I just got a new muffler for another project from AW, no spacer installed in it.

RE: *Aeroworks 50cc S2 Sport Cub Build*
ORIGINAL: Jichal It is a 40% Carbon Cub (full scale aircraft; see Cub Crafters), the 40% model will have a 14' wingspan (I don't think that is clipped, lol). Again, it isn't a J3, it is a Carbon Cub 40% scale model of the real thing; Carbon Cub. Think of it as the latest greatest ''Super Cub'' but with modern materials and upgrades. Mike
Sweet.... based on that I would assume an engine in the 120 - 150 range... and a price tag around $1400ish when it comes out?? I have a WM 1/3 scale super cub (12' WS) and it flies scale with a 3W-78ib2, most power them with a 100CC engine which offers a significant increase in vertical upline :)

RE: Aero Works P-51?
For the people who have flown the P-51, where did you balance your plane at? Did you balance per manual or did you move the CG back a little. I know warbirds can get a little sensitve with a rear CG limit.... Also, I talked to Kelvin at Keleo and he is still hoping to get his custom exhaust completed this spring....

RE: Aero Works P-51?
I also removed the bungie straps from the tail wheel doors and fabricated a rubber band arrangement similar to what another fellow did on this forum. Its works alot better and now I can get 3 complete sequences without a hangup on the stock tank. Each complete sequence (ie: retract/extend) uses 20PSI, so with the system charged at 120PSI I can safely get 3 cycles. At 60PSI the tail wheel hangs again.

RE: Aero Works P-51?
For those who had problems with retract air leaks, I finally fixed mine. The system would hold 120 PSI with the gear extended by lost 30 PSI every 10 minutes retracted, I narrowed it down to dry o-rings in one of the air valves. I added about 3cc's of compressor air tool oil between the different hose disconnect locations and fill line. I also lubricated the air valve plunger and actuated the system about 30 times. It took about 2 hours to swell the o-rings but my system is now tight and does not lose anything extended or retracted over 12 hours. I think I'll start a prevenative maintenance plan and add a little oil to the system in the fall and spring.

RE: New 81
kochj What type of wheels came with your Chipmunk??
I'm pretty sure they are foam, I'll check when I get home.
kochj Don't get me wrong, I greased some really NICE landings, it just seems like I am coming in WAYY more faster than needed... I land on the mains, and it finally slows at the end of runway, and drops tail... I thought I read some, loosing there plane due to ''snapping'' on final??
The best thing you can do on any first flight is to check the low speed handling once you are satisfied with the flight trim. Try a couple slow passes at a safe height and see what the stalls are like... does it drop a wing tip or just drop a nose... Then try some lower passes at the lower speed to get a feel for the model at slow speeds. Mine has really food low speed charactoristics, with flaps the approach is very predictable and lands at a nice speed... virtually 3 point every time. I also have my CG 1/4" further aft of the rear limit and it handles nice with no snap tendacies. If you have your CG closer to the forward limit you will have a harder time slowing the plane down for landings.

RE: New 81
ORIGINAL: kochj Perhaps I am not using enough flap, or comming in WAYYYY to hot (worried about tip stall) but the landing gear metal is RUBBISH....Very weak/soft metal... After they bend FOrward...and the rear of the wheel pants scrape the pavement. It is himiluating, after seeing how nice it looked prior to landings...
Where did you set up your CG? I have mine set at 1/4" further aft of the rear limit and it just mushes in a 3 point stance for landing with no wing wags at all. My 12X does a great job with the flaps, they drop down in a 2 sec transit time and adds 12% down elevator... works sweet. The robo struts help too but I find that the shock absorbers should be a little more stiffer as they compress pretty easy. As for my wing alignment issues I do see a little roll coupling when I apply up elevator but not enough to worry about as I'm not flying serious IMAC anyways..... most of my flying has some form of lomcevak's anyways.... this thing tumbles very well :)

RE: World Models 1/3 Super Cub
I finally got a chance to maiden my super cub, what a floater :) Had a slight wind down the runway and the plane lifted off in about 30 feet at under 1/2 throttle.... With flaps down I would estimate the ground speed was at 7 mph with the small head wind, aerobatics not so great but for a relaxing airplane to fly this is it.... Engine: 3W-78ib2 Prop: Mejzlik 26x8 6500 RPM

RE: P-6E Curtis hawk (build thread)
ORIGINAL: teamvortex Thanks, I've converted mine to gas stopper and I'm breaking in a DLE-20. So far looks good. I was flying it with an OS160 (had one), but it was way too much power. The DLE-20 is turning a Zinger 16/6-10 at 7500 after only about 30 minutes on the test stand. Looks good. Thanks, Rich
I'll be curious how well your Hawk flies with the DLE-20, I had a Saito 1.20 in mine and I had 2500 RPM more than your DLE20 with a 16x6 prop and it flew ok but at full throttle. Turns were a little heavy and loops were close to stall at the top when entering from level flight. I'm sure it will fly just be careful as you might be behind the power curve. I would lean more to a DLE30 myself.
