RE: Jim Pepino's YMF-5 Waco
Ken, I wanted to thank a number of contributors to this forum for all their great ideas and tips in building the Pepino Waco. Yourself along with stickbuilder, Damifino and waconut all made this build alot of fun. At this point, I'm sure you are saying this guy is nuts. If it wasn't for the forum the build would not have been the same. It took me about 10 months to complete and I still have to balance, add the aileron connections and clean things up. I'm hoping to fly in early October. The model should weigh in at about 30 pounds. Up front is a Brison 3.2 swinging a 22x8 prop. There is a smoke system installed along with working nav and landing lights that are synched to the throttle. The aileron corrigations were a major issue. After months of searching I could find no supplier for the plastic corrigations that were 1/4 scale. I finally settled on a pattern that gave me a few more ribs but at least the look is there. Don't you know after it's all said and done I find a supplier for the exact scale I wanted. The site is "Park Flyers Plastics" for anyone interested. Since so many great pictures were already posted of your build and others I really just wanted to show some of my finished product. I have not asked for the brotherhood information but plan to after my maiden. This airplane came out great. The forward passenger is removeable and I can mount a camera in it's place. Hopefully getting a video up after a few flights. I really just wanted to add to the forum so that waco modelers might get the bug. Thanks again for all the ideas from you gents. Maybe I'll make it to a Bomber Field meet. Tim

RE: Jim Pepino's YMF-5 Waco
Ken,. Thanks for putting all those shots on one post. I've fabricated the aluminum ends for the struts. Was there a drawing showing the aluminum fittings that are secured into the wing structures? They do look similar to the strut ends except for the fittings where the guy wires are attached. If this still isn't clear then I'll use the pictures as my guide. Great shots thanks. I'll take a few pictures as things progress. Tim

RE: Jim Pepino's YMF-5 Waco
Ken, I hope you are still looking at this thread. My fuselage is framed and the gear is being installed. My tail wheel came out great and I'm still trying to plan out where all the electronics will go with some access. I was reviewing the thread looking for pictures of the aluminum strut attach fittings that you installed in the wings. All I could find was the fitting drawings for the cabane and wing struts. Did you use the same fittings in the wings. The dual attach fittings look like the angles are different. My only other question is how is your Waco holding up? Is their something you would suggest doing differently? The plans are a challenge but the thread has sure been a help. I think I can have it done by summer. If it comes together, I'd certainly apply for brotherhood. Tim

Ken, Thanks for the ideas. I also have the Robart Tail wheel and saw your finished product somewhere in this thread. I'll get it together somehow. I have a ways to go until the tail wheel touchs ground. Tim

BigBird I've been experimenting with this tail wheel set-up with no luck. I've been unable to get it welded or brazed. What type of tubing did you use and what type of weld? Do you do any contract work if you had all the parts cut and fitted. Thanks. Tim

RE: Club Enya
Thanks for the manual pages. I did have the same info but appreciate the help. I'll put a new plug in today and go find myself some 5-10% nitro. I felt the same way about the engine sounding rather harsh at the higher end. Just looking for some smoothness and I know this engine can do the job. I'll update once I play with this alittle more. Thanks.

RE: Club Enya
I've had an ENYA R120 for years and now putting it back in service. It's mounted on a test stand while trying to make adjustments before putting it in my plane. My fuel is 15% Wildcat 4 cycle (no other additives)with a 15x6 prop. The engine is side mounted with the standard muffler set-up. The engine starts up easily however I need help with the adjustments. The air bleed screw is at the mid position. When I try to set the high end adjustment I'm getting around 9,000 rpm before the engine just quits. It will be running fine and squeezing the fuel line I still get a rise in RPM yet if I close off the needle valve just a hair more it quits. I've tried playing with the high end then back to the air bleed screw and then back to the high end only to have it quit at approx 9,000. It seems people are getting more from this engine and frankly I think it should too. Any thoughts or adjustment proceedures are greatly appreciated. I thought there was a great site for adjusting these engines but I can't seem to find it. Thanks for reading my story. I just want to understand this beauty before putting it into a new plane. Oh, my idle speed is around 3000. When I try to take it lower the engine gets erratic and also quits. I'm thinking too rich at the low end and it somehow is effecting the high end. I've opened the bleed screw all the way out and still unable to get the idle down. Frustrated.

RE: Nitro Planes A-10 Warthog for 95 dollars
aginzu, thanks for the reply and the flight data. I'm hoping that these Himax 4100kv motors will give me the power to weight ratio for a good performance. I haven't put a pull scale on the model but it should fly. I'll post once I get things airbourne. Maybe some pictures/movie...

RE: Nitro Planes A-10 Warthog for 95 dollars
I'm really interested in knowing how your flight went at 26 ounces. I've done all the mods mentioned: Himax 4100kv BL motors. GWS fan and had it balanced to fly on one TP 3s 1320mah 12c lipo pulling about 17 amps (too much). This had each motor pulling 8.5 amps which gave each motor about 90 watts. These Himax notors are rated to 100 watts but get pretty warm at that level. The test run had the battery getting way to hot for even a three minute flight. Great testiment to TP batteries though. The model came in at 655 grams. If I go to a 3s 2100mah 20c my AU weight will also be approaching 26 ounces. Please leave a note how things went. I'm awaiting my new battery now.

Walbro Carb Fuel Lines
I just finished converting a Stihl 31cc trimmer engine with a new electronic ignition and a Walbro WT433 carb. The new carb has two fuel inlet lines and I'm assuming the larger line is the main fuel inlet and the smaller tube is for the bulb primer. I need some help with the fuel line hook-up. Where does the primer bulb hook up and what does the smaller fuel line do??? It's a shame I didn't notice the set-up before I took things apart. Thanks for any ideas.

RE: KAMODELS Mig-15 Park Flyer
I guess it would help if the hardware being used was stated. The fan is a Wometec 505 with a HET-RC Typhoon EDF 2W brushless motor, a tp3s 2100 prolite battery, Mystery 60 esc and JR 790 receiver. Mini servos for ailerons and elevator. The little things definitely added up so my next attempt will have all the weight reduction ideas included. I think it will have enough get up and go. Just interested in anyones experience with a loaded Mig. [sm=cry_smile.gif][sm=cry_smile.gif]

KAMODELS Mig-15 Park Flyer
My AUW is 6oz. too much. (32oz.) Lots of excuses but first time trying is 95% of it. I planned on bungee launching from the beginning and I'm concerned if I'll get airborne once the plane leaves the rails or will it drop like rock. The weight isn't going to change I"ve moved the esc, receiver, battery. The fan is secured and the cg is dead on as Ken from KA suggested. Any good stories with a fat Mig would help.
