RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
ORIGINAL: 42etus What don't you like about the appearance? What does that mean? Does it obstruct your view?
I guess I mean that it isn't invisible. While it is transparent, you can still see that it's there. It does protect the screen though and is easily replaceable
I had a little trouble getting the screen protector on without bubbles.....mine looks about like yours. PS: Very funny skydiving comment.........and very true you dont need a parachute if your only going to skydive once.

They must of lost money on that deal. Even the 360.00 price with free shipping is a good one. I bet your in the top ten for lowest price on a A9. I think youll like the A9........and after you use it a while youll like it even better. Congrats..........keep us posted when you get it.
ORIGINAL: bluzjamer Hi Guys,I'm shopping around for a new TX and I've narrowed it down to the SD-10G and the Aurora 9.
I own the A9 and would suggest you take a very close look at it. The touch screen and the easy programming put this radio in its own class. I really miss these features when I am using another brand radio. The telemetry features built into a stock system are very useful. There is nothing wrong with the other brands.........but their is a whole lot right with the Hitec Aurora 9.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
GizmoMax: I think what they are trying to say..........is if your not going to use the SPC port you have to put the jumper back in that came with the rx. You have to either use the SPC by applying a power source or not use it and make sure the jumper is connected. If the rx wont boot up with the jumper connected then you may have a problem.
ORIGINAL: Gungadin Flew my A9 this past week end in it's 2nd pattern contest. I'm getting used to it more & more. The radio worked well enough to get me first place. I'm starting to like it more & more. Will fly it's 3rd pattern contest the end of August. I should be in synch with the A9 by then. So far I'm the only Hitec guy amongst the Futaba, JR, & Airtronics pattern flyers, but my A9 is as good or better than any of the others. Maybe some of the other brand flyers will take notice of Hitec for pattern.[;)]
Congrats: Im sure they were thinking only the top three brands should be taking home first place trophy. Not some new kid on the block Hitec Aurora 9 owner.

Hey Michel: You have some serious equipment in your plane.........wait till the Telemetry stuff comes out.......your going to have to put a basement in the plane or at least a small room addition.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
One more thing i dont like about the 6/7 ch Rx is combined Battery and Channel slot. !! A big NO NO NO !!! All Heli guys would agree, as Heli uses exactly 6 channels and plugging a Battery is NEED of "Y" harness. I dont like wire mess !!! Hemal With all do respect........if you need 6 channels and you don't want to use a Y connector then the minimum you need to buy is a 7 channel. As you probably know on many receivers you lose one channel to the battery. If possible I buy a receiver with at least one channel more than I think I will need.
ORIGINAL: michel gravelle Hi Guys Well , I found a way to put expo / dual rate , on the tail wheel . And the solution was so simple . I do WarBirds , not 3D , soooooo . I put the rudder on channel #8 , and the tail wheel on rudder . And all this ,.................... took me 3 minuts ( I know I,m slow ) . The only time I use rudder is when I,m landing to line up with the tarmack . Any which way , this is the way that works for me . I tryed the other two solutions that Mike and AT , gave to me and they also worked . But , I found this to be the simplist Just thought I would let you know thanks for the help guys Michel
That sounds like a clever work around..........the A9 is very flexible. Thanks for the tip.

RE: Aurora 9 with Optima Rx Brown out Q&A - Rx 4 or 5cell??
I think technically the A9 can brown out at 3.5 volts. Most guy don't feel real comfortable using 4 cell packs for peace of mind. If your pack doesn't spike below 4 volts your probably ok. When you setup your planes........try to make sure you don't have servos that are binding or over traveling causing high current draws. If your using 3 or 4 or more digital servos I would not recommend using a 4 cell pack. I use a 3 cell lipo to run my servos and receiver. It is on a regulator and gives a constant 5.1 volt.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
I agree hitec is making an effort to make sure the A9 is a success. The main reason I held off getting a 2.4 system was the high prices and the complicated stale programming of the radios in my price range. The touch screen and folder metaphor programming of the A9 gave me the go ahead to make the jump to 2.4. Talk about the dream job.........Mike gets paid to hang out with Brandon Chitty beta testing firmware upgrades. [>:]

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
I dont have the Hpp-22 yet so I cant update.....I was kind of holding out for the wireless version of the HPP-22. I think once we get a update or two under our belt things will go smoother. Jim: From what I understand the upgrade on the rx is mainly because the module got updated and the module got updated so the new telemetry stuff works right.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
Michel: I have my antenna's almost exactly like yours......I attached each antenna down opposite sides of the fuselage. Others could chime in on this.........as long as the antenna's have some space between each other everything should be fine. I have flown my A9 a couple of dozen times......and have never felt any loss of signal. Keep us posted on your success!

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
Michel: You are the best judge as to whether you should use a separate battery on the SPC. Looking at your setup if this setup worked with your JR system I should work with the A9. 1. A 1400 mah receiver\servo battery seems adequate. 2. The antenna look fine. 3. Regulating the voltage is probably not a bad idea. I fly electric sailplanes with limited space so I get all my power from the single lipo with a regulator. If I were using high torque digital servos and had the space I would have a separate battery on the SPC. Im sure there are others with more A9 experience than I. Ive been flying my A9 for a couple of weeks......so far the connection has been rock solid. I haven't had any brown out issues........but I am using analog servos. Loving the Aurora 9

RE: Aurora 9 and Optima 9
Once you bind the Optima rx you never have to rebind it as long as you dont run the tx in scan mode. So you can have 10 Optima rx's and the tx will bind to them all once you do the initial bind in normal mode. I dont have a bunch of planes so when I go to a new field I will run scan mode just to give the tx a chance to do wider scan for that location. Then go back to normal mode for flying. The Aurora 9 is a very simple straight forward system to bind.

RE: Aurora 9 Tx battery toast?
It does sound like you have a bad cell. I am running the stock pack on my tx and if I setup the back light to turn off at 10 or 20 seconds, Im getting over 5 hours on a charge. On a full charge my battery pack reads 8.4 volts.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
ORIGINAL: dbcisco Just as I though. A bunch of snobs.
Saying anything negative about the A9 in this forum is akin to bashing the pope. Your lucky tar and feathering isn't possible via the internet. [:D] I think most Aurora 9 owners expected a negative reaction from the hardcore JR\Spectrum crowd as well as the hardcore Futaba owners. If any group are snobby it is the JR\Futaba people. We A9 owners got a BMW at a Ford Escort price. PS: I like a good deal......but I get a little uneasy putting a 100.00 rc system into a plane that might cost several hundred dollars and several months building.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
I wonder did he loose all those planes at the same location. If he lost 4 planes in one week.......it does point to the tx. I think after the second plane I would of possibly sent the tx in for a look see before I used it again. It can be hard to pin these things down. I have been very fortunate in regards to having connection problems. I am beginning to wonder if 2.4 isn't turning into a more problematic system. I just recently got into 2.4 with the Aurora 9 and haven't used it enough to have any kind of track record. I have many problem free years with 72mhz.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
On my electric stuff.......if I turn off the tx first with the rx still on the ESC jumps into 40 percent power up for about 5 seconds. Also some servos will jump if you turn the tx on last. So I agree that tx first on last off is a good habit to maintain.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
Michel: That is correct........as long as you stay in Normal mode when you turn on your tx all your Rx's will connect up by simply turning on the receivers. Apparently even if you turn them all on at the same time they will connect. Except in the most crowded interference situations I doubt it will ever be a problem if you stay in Normal Mode.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
LQ: I noticed that too on a non motorized glider I setup..........I would check to make sure you have your model setup with motor control. Try going through the model type setup and make sure you select motor control. Or if you don't need throttle control setup the throttle stick for flaps control. When I did this the trim indicator was visible and worked fine.

I forget when I sent my coupon in..........I think it was early April. So I am on the same boat as the rest of you. I dont need them yet......so its no sweat. So far I do like my A9.....I got the A9 Tx plus 3-7 channel receivers for about 380.00 shipped. Which is a very good deal for this system. I haven't noticed any dead band yet. I formed charged the Tx battery three times and its holding a good charge.

Wind_Of_Change: Sorry you missed the rx deal. As far as being in on the first few runs of a new system......your not alone. I think most buyers of the A9 would agree that Hitec is going to do everything they can to make the A9 a good reliable system. So far my A9 is working great........I haven't flown it yet but all my ground testing has come up fine. Your going to love the programming set and the touch screen. Good luck and keep us posted.
