RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Hi Roger, At least it looks like a "normal" transmitter, and not a tray, which I would have thought is going against the usual european practice. Regards Ross

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
David, Thanks for your comments, they were a help. A few queries, you mention that you can use the up and down keys to adjust the points, I am using the latest gigacontrol software and it doesn't work, I have to use a mouse. Obviously I am doing something wrong. You mention adjusting a few points on the slave servo, is this done on the horizontal line in the second slave servo? Yes the tx and cable work perfectly thanks. Weather gradually improving, after a very wet but mild winter. Best wishes Ross

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Thanks Mike, That is a good idea, disconnecting is easy as each servo drives a different part of the aileron. I will try it and see what happens. Regards Ross

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Synchronising 2 servos I am trying to synchronise 2 servos that drive an aileron on a large sailplane. I have set them up as master/slave and set the amount of aileron movement, by setting the master servo endpoints. However, when I mechanically link up the slave servo and then go to synchronise, (which shows on the slave servo) during the synchronisation the servos drive to their limits, which is well past the endpoints I have set and the synchronisation fails. I don't need them to synchronise right across the servo range, only a small part of that. So what am I doing wrong Ideas please. Thanks Ross

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Some advice please. I am trying to download data from an sd card so I can easily check the current draw of a servo using giga control. The card was formatted perfectly as I have just used it to put V2.61 on the TX. However whenever I try to load a logfile into Gigacontrol it comes up with an error saying "Error in file.Configuration was probably only partially loaded" I get the same error if the SD card is in the TX or the RX. Gigacontrol is version 2.59. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so how did you overcome it. Regards Ross

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Richard, My Pirotti Tuono flies perfectly with internal aerials on the 12-22R, and they look tremendous with the tailpipe leds operating , mine also has smoke. By the way, it is not possible to fit a single drive to the rudder on the shark 304 as the bulkhead for the propellor unit blanks off the fuselage. I have found a high performance low profile servo that I can fit under the seat pan. David, thanks for your comments, I have similar problem when I start fitting servos on a 6.52m DG303, which has 2 servos driving each aileron. Regards Ross

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Richard, Thanks for your comments, I cannot reposition the rudder servo, as immediately behind the retract unit is the up and go motor and propellor, On this glider the up and go is an Elicker pylon 20 and it takes up a lot of room, it blocks all access for a rudder servo and the cables. The sailplane is a 6m Shark 304 from Vagenknecht. Regards Ross

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
I need some advice. I am trying to fit a 12-22R receiver plus 4 batteries, 2 for the receiver, plus 2 large lipos for the "up and Go" unit on a 6m scale sailplane. My trouble is that although it has quite a reasonable sixze cockpit, by the time the scale seat pan is fitted, there isn't a lot of room in the front of the fuz. I need to fit a rudder servo and frankly the seat pan is deep enough that the servo will not fit underneath it. I do have room for 2 servos, one either side of the retract unit for the wheel. The drive to the rudder is a thin wire rod one for each side of the rudder, normally a single servo would be used. Now if I use 2 servos, operating one rod each, so one will push while the other pulls. Is it possible to synchronise the servos.???? Yes I have seen this for 2 servos driving one surface, but for the 2 of them working opposite each other?? Comments and help please. Regards Ross

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Hi All, A problem I haven't seen before. I am trying to check a 12-22R gyro III receiver to set it up with my TX. Unfortunately I am not getting any communication back to Giga control in my Laptop. The TX is plugged into the USB port on the laptop, but nothing is being fed to Gigacontrol. I have tried 2 TX D4 bluetooth units, the same problem with both. 2 laptops one with Gigacontrol 2.59 the other on 2.56. The same no result on both. I have also tried another 12-22R with no result. Yes the tx does operate the servo in the receivers, so that channel is working, it is the one to the laptops that has the problem What am I doing wrong, it is probably something simple, ideas please Regards Ross

MQ-9 Reaper query
I am just finishing a Hobby King MQ 9 Reaper (Nitroplanes has the same model). However the "documentation" shows the CG at 50-54mm from the LE of the wing, my problem is that the rear wheels are then in front of the CG. Most unusual. Has anyone built one of these planes and if so where was the cg? Best wishes Ross Auckland NZ

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Harry, It would be nice to be one of the 555.. What firmware will be in the Profi 16, will it be as flexible as the Profi 4000, which the same as you, I like for its flexibilty of programming? The only trouble I can see with the Profi 16 is it appears to be a tray type TX, for those of us used to the "other type" using a tray tx is difficult. I have a Graupner MC-32 which I am struggling to get to grips with. Thanks for the gyro info that was very useful, any more tips greatly appreciated. Best wishes to all Ross

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Frank, I have 2 DV4 tx modules and yes a receiver has to be bound to which ever one you want to use. ie with one tx it will be bound to a particular receiver, if I need to use another tx I need to rebind. This is logical, otherwise the receiver could start with any tx that it likes. It would be a bit like selecting the wrong model in a tx, been there done thatnot pretty Regards Ross

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Jo, Good luck with the GPS contest which sailplane will you be using. I am not sure what info you want. I have tried the Sky Navigator software, but it has a major problem in the Southern Hemisphere It doesn't work correctly. To have the TX talk to the Sky Navigator software, you need the DV4, Go into the transmitter section in Gigacontrol for your plane, and set Blue tooth to Sky Navigator, it should initalize itself. Dont forget you cannot use a netbook or anything else for Sky Navigator. It must be an Ipaq, as the software only runs on an Ipaq, and the DV4 blue tooth is "designed" to talk to the Ipaq. I hope this helps Regards Ross

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Tom, I was given the 2.59 Gigacontrol, the GPS showed up perfectly with my 12-22 receivers but it did now work with the smart or micro receivers. I did not have 2.58 to instal on my receivers, so possibly if I had installed 2.58 on the smart and micro receivers the gps would work. with those as well. I left all the receivers with 2.56 I would like somebody to check if installing 2.58 gives us GPS on the Smart and micro receivers. There is no doubt with 2.59 and the 12-22 the GPS comes up perfectly quite quickly and shows the lat and long, a huge improvement for us down here, and it is interesting to see the display in the Nav display and the Big display, I tried it by picking up my Arcus sailplane fuz and tried running for a few meters it showed the speed very quickly and looked like it was very accurate. So Alwin has made a huge improvement thanks Regards Ross

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
JR give the nominal voltage of the DS171 as 4.8 volts. (I am using them on the elevators for a large 6m sailplane.) They are on Channel 3 but servos 9 and 10. I have had the Hitec 5125's in this position, but have had 2 burnouts, so am trying the JR servos. Is it possible to just have these 2 servos on 9,10, at 4.8 and all the others at 6 volts. As I read the servo voltages in Gigacontrol, they are bunched in groups, which looks like a whole group will be adjusted in voltage not just individual servos. If not I will have to find a way of putting these servos in their own group, without any other conflicts. Ideas please/ Regards Ross

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Hi Tom, yes I realised it was a mistake to mention that, a liitle birdy gave it to me to try and see if there were any problems. I cant find any difference between it and 2.56. After much playing with the MC-32 I have found the problem it has to do with the position of the levers on either side of the TX, they cannot be at 100% . I have reset them to a max of 80% and everything works perfectly. So if any one has an MC-32 with a Weatronics TX and they are using LV1 and LV2 make sure you reduce the max on both of them to 80%. Whether it is a Graupner problem or a conflict with the Weatronics Tx is still to be sorted.

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Hi thanks for the comment, yes that is what it seemed, but actually it isn't. It has something to do with the physical/electronic position of the throttle it only occurs with the throttle at top position. I am using mode 1. It has nothing to do with the gigacontrol software, I have checked both 2.56 and 2.59. It appears to be something with the Weatronic and the MC-32. Or maybe just a problem with the MC-32. I have asked Ueli (Tun Modellbau) and Alwin at Weatronic to investigate. Regards Ross

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Ideas please. I have just struck an odd problem with my Graupner MC-32 and the Paritech Bald Eagle I was setting up. Everything appears to work perfectly, for a few seconds, then the ailerons will slow down and the airbrakes come out from the retract position. They are on totally different servos and the air brakes work perfectly on their own. So why should I be getting a mixing between the two and what can cause the ailerons to slow down. Ideas please.. RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Hi David, I get the impression that the awful customer service may just be improving ever so slightly. I complained to them about the problems I was having with the shop, ( I had no credit so I couldn't buy) lo and behold a couple of days ago an email with an apology and a very good credit limit. No doubt some of the problems have been due to the 3 shifts they have had, in a relatively short space of time, hopefully now things will improve. I totally agree about the equipment it is reliable and works well. It will be interesting to see if the times that Alwin mentioned for the english voice and GPS height etc are met. Best wishes Ross

Hi, It is possible to upgrade the cost for a DV3 to a DV4BT is 140Euro. I have just sent one in, I suggest you post it to the Berlin address marking it for attn Alwin Mueller. I would also suggest making sure your parcel is tracked so you know that it arrives. Regards Ross

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Hi all. A very positive message. I have just had a very very long phone call with Alwin. and there are a number of positives. The English voice should be available late April early may. Likewise the GPS height it should be on the same time frame.. It is possible to upgrade the DV3 to the DV4 , cost 80 euro or 140 euro for the BT version send it to Alwin at the Berlin address. The weatronics transmitter sounds exciting they are aiming for late autumn (Europe) this year. If they can do that so quickly it will be amazing. They are working on upgrading the DV4 module to work with 16 channels as needed by the Graupner MC32, it will be later this year. Re the Paypal problem, I have, that will be sorted out. And yes there is a beta Blue tooth version for an Android the final version is not far away.. Well Alwin is very positive, and is definitely committed to the company, ( any one that has a 700km commute from Kempten to Berlin has to be very keen to make sure the company he is working for succeeds) Yes years ago I commuted for 2 years about 700km each week and its no fun.. I know that I have been one of their very vocal critics, but the equipment is good and it works well and with all the problems I have had trying to purchase I will continue to buy. And yes I have placed an order with Alwin for the TX when it is ready.. Regards To all Ross
