Whats the trick of seperating the backing and the covering on ultra coat. Is the actual covering part thinner than the backing? Thanks

RE: E-Flite Mini Pulse XT Owner's Club
I graduated from the hobby zone supercub to the mini pulse. Heres my suggestions. Set your control throws at the low rates or less until you get use to the plane its alot more responsive. Climb up a bit before you trim and be ready to trim. I had the same nose heavy cg problem. I put my tp 2100 so just a little bit sticks out of the velcro strap (Like 1/4 inch ). This means most of the battery was above the wing. This worked for me with the 480 motor and heavier wheels. I however didnt use wheel pants. Reinforce your gear and use nylon bolts. Some use the same diameter. I went to a larger diameter. These are just what worked for me.

RE: E-Flite Mini Pulse XT Owner's Club
I'm having real good luck with the nylon bolts. I'm usinng 10/32 though. I added 1/4 plywood in the channel where the blind nuts were and then tapped it for the bolts. I then put tri stock around the outside of the channel. It works well for me . I only broke the nylon bolts maybe twice. I havent ripped anything out yet. I hope this doesnt jinx it.

I was going to put a saito 82 in mine .... I determined it was to much of a hassle and a bit overkill. People have done it though. I'm saving my saito for a mojo or u-cando.

RE: DX-7 crash
ORIGINAL: kgfly
ORIGINAL: caltrop It hurts when someone loses a model for whatever reason (short of their own deliberate stupidity) and I can understand the sense of frustration and anger that results when this happens with a brand new technology. However each user will have to assess the risk/benefit tradeoff based on a consideration of the whole picture. It is possible there is a design or manufacturing problem with any new product and we all want to see them worked out ASAP.
It's very frustrating when you save up $350 and then loose a plane just to find out there is updated firmware for the receiver you had in your plane. Having horizon offer to ship and update the receiver hardly makes up for my loss. I am unhappy with the support i received as are others. I am still using my spektrum but, not as confidently as I would have liked. I wonder if it would change if a AMA big shot lost a plane.

I take that to mean they want suggestions that would enable this. I am giving advice on my success . Ask yourself how much help your suggestion has been. LOL

RE: Plane Suggestion for Dad
My hobby zone supercub flew longer than 4 min. flights. I dont think you would want to convert your first plane over to brushless and lipo. I realize the stock electronics leave alot to be desired however, newbies want to fly out of the box. Think of all the stuff you need to buy to convert. Charger , balancer , brushless esc , etc. etc.

RE: Plane Suggestion for Dad
I taught myself on a Hobbyzone supercub. Everything you need for $159. Then a extra higher cap battery for 20 bucks. Replacement parts are cheap. The draw back is this only held my interest for 2 months before I moved up. I still highly recommend it. If you think he would enjoy working with others and stuff go the club aileron trainer route.

RE: R/C Airplane reccomendation for a beginner?
I learned on a hobby-zone super-cub. cost $159.00. I taught myself. It is tough and you can buy spare parts cheap. He will outgrow it but better than crashing a balsa plane. If you go the balsa 4 servo trainer route he definately will need help from a experienced flier.

RE: Would you buy a Pulse XT 25E?
I'm not sure if i would buy one. I have the mini and its great and i get alot of use out of it. It does tend to get lost in the sky though. I also just maidened my big pulse today. I basically flew it rich and trimmed it. I don't know its potential yet. I will see how it flies when I'm more comfortable with it. The place I flew it was really to small. I just think if I wanted another small electric it would be something like a ef yak ep or qq yak ep. If I didn't already own the mini and there was a 25e then yes for sure. However i have a mini. Like i said i just barely flew the big pulse. It seemed to fly alot slower and the control surfaces tamer than the mini. I will take allot of expo out on the big 1.

RE: Loss of control in flight using AR7000 & DX 7 UPDATE 5/5/07
Well if horizon would take responsibilty maybe Rino would let it die. I lost a 2 due to the AR-6100. If i didnt read about it here I still would have been scratching my head. I have an updated AR -6100 and have no problems since. I am a little afraid to use the AR-7000. Am i going to have to have a crash before I find something is faulty on that receiver to? I plan on not using the stock receiver battery.

RE: E-Flite Mini Pulse XT Owner's Club
ORIGINAL: styrenejunkie
ORIGINAL: Doc Austin
I know the original balancing question was mine, so everyone should know that I did invert the aircraft when it was put on the balancer...and I used the manual, which said that the aircraft should balance 2.75" aft of the leading edge. I'm not comfortable with the finger-under-the-spar method, but I'm willing to bet that the 2.75" dimension is at about the same location. Right now, in order to balance, only about 1" of the battery peeks out from the aft part of the battery compartment opening. I'll be looking to take off the spinner and shove the RX and ESC as far back as I can. If anyone has similar problems or success stories, let's hear 'em!
I have the same nose heavy problem as you. I have 1 inch of the tp-2070 under the velcro strap for the battery. I put 1 piece of lead on the very aft of the tail. It is not to big of a deal. I will get around to making a tray that will be more above the forward part of the wing. I dont want to add anymore lead. My noseheavy problem must be from my big wheels and the extra weight of the 480 motor.
